Highlights from the Beach

Yesterday, Friday, the kids and I went to the beach. Here are the highlights:

  • Lucas accidentally throwing a shovelful of sand in Micah's eye.
  • Me kneeling down to help Micah get the sand out of his eye.
  • After calming Micah down I notice that I have dog poop on my knee (good thing I have pants on). Nice...
  • At least it was only about a dime size amount. (I still have no idea where it came from b/c I didn't see or smell it anywhere.) Gross I know.
  • Lucas and I being able to fill our buckets up with water from the ocean. The weather was warm enough to do so. I even have a farmers tan.
  • Lucas calling Grandpa telling him that he is digging a hole and maybe going to put Micah in it. Plus telling Grandpa that Micah is really crabby.
  • Lucas and I watching the lifeguard shovel up a dead pelican that was about approximately 30 yards away from us. I didn't know it was a dead bird. I honestly thought it was a piece of tire. Now thinking about it I have to wonder why on earth I would think a piece of rubber tire would be on the beach, but that is what I thought. I must be tired:) The lifeguard shoveled it up and took it to the garbage can and threw it in. Lucas found this amusing. I found it disgusting. Micah didn't notice at all.
  • Lucas and I playing catch. For the first time in about 10 years I finally remember how NOT to throw like a girl. Somehow my athletic ability I had in high school came back to me. I'm very pleased.
  • I tried to teach Lucas the No Look Pass. He understood it more as the No Look Catch. I have to say that is more difficult then the no look pass. I found it completely hilarious.
  • Micah throwing sand down my shirt. Now this might not be that amusing but it really is. If an 11 week old baby who never touches the sand ends up pooping sand I know it is because his 2 year old brother decided to sneak attack his mother with handfuls of sand down her shirt. Breastfeeding is Great!! (smirk:)

That pretty much sums up the eventful events. It was a lot of fun.

All I can say is that you are a fantastic Mom. Lucas didn't tell his Grandpa that he had thrown sand in Micah's eye. That might explain the crappy part. And "Land Mines" can and do appear anywhere. The fact that you did not see or smell it, means it was a very old one. The tire on the beach, maybe they are like "land Mines"?
Lots of love your way--Mom

Awesome. Way to have a sense of humor about it all.

Holy cow, I am still laughing. I would love to see the no look catch sometime. I love that Lucas told his grandpa Micah was being crabby. I can see Annika doing that someday with Aly. You are an amazing mom to have such a great sense of humor after Micah poured sand down your shirt. Thanks for sharing the highlights!
