Yesterday morning I woke-up thinking about where Jon and I have been in the last 10 years celebrating Jon's birthdays. I found that we were almost always in a different city or place than the previous year.
nd birthday - Jon and I were engaged. He was in China for his BYU study abroad program while I was home in Richland planning our wedding.
rd birthday - Jon and I were living in China. Jon was working for a contractor for Motorola building a semiconductor fabrication facility in Tianjin. We enjoyed traveling the sites of China, Hong Kong and Thailand. In July we headed back to the states to continue our schooling at BYU in the Fall.
th birthday - We were in Provo. Jon graduated from BYU, and we were moving to Seattle to start his new job as a Financial Advisor.
th birthday - We had a 3-week-old baby. We were tying up loose ends in Seattle and moving to Richland. Jon would start studying for the LSAT and GMAT and working for a company called HFC. We lived with my parents for the year and Jon applied to Law Schools and Business Schools (still undecided as what he wanted to do in life).
th birthday - We were still living in Richland with my parents but planning on making our move to New York City in August so Jon could attend Columbia Law School.
th birthday - Jon finished his 1st year of Law School. He got a summer internship working for a company in Times Square. We were expecting our second child in July.
th birthday - Jon finished his 2nd year of Law School. He drove cross country to Newport Beach to start his first 8 weeks of his summer internship with a law firm. I flew out with Lucas (age 3) and Micah (age 1). We then moved to L.A. in July, and Jon started his second internship with S&C for the last 8 weeks of the summer. As you know we chose S&C.
th birthday - Jon graduated from Law School. We were able to have Jon's mom and brother Nathan come out for the Graduation ceremony. Then a week later we had all of my family come out and enjoy the sites of NYC for the last time before we moved. For the summer we moved back to Washington to live with my parents while Jon studied for the bar. I was pregnant with our 3rd child. We moved to L.A. that August to begin Jon's professional career.
th birthday - Jon was in the middle of his 1st year of being a lawyer. He worked a lot. We lived in an apartment. Lucas was 5, Micah almost 3, and David 6 months.
st birthday - Jon was in his second year of his law career. Still working lots. We had moved again across town into a house. Lucas was in Kindergarten and Micah in Preschool. David was 18 months.
nd birthday - Jon is in his 3rd year of his legal career at S&C. We live in a different house than last year. Lucas is in 1st grade. Micah is in Pre-K getting ready for Kindergarten in the Fall. David is 2 and a half. Phineas (our golden retriever) is 9 months old. And we are expecting our fourth child on Thanksgiving Day. We are looking forward to summer vacation and paternity leave. We all (especially Jon since he is taking 3 weeks off) are looking forward to July when we visit Idaho Falls and then Washington. It will be nice to get a break of L.A. for a month (the boys and I will be gone for the entire month).
That sums the last 10 years up. I can't imagine where we'll be 10 years from now. Other than we will have teenage boys. Can you imagine the ride that'll be! Exciting times are before us.
