This year we hosted Thanksgiving Dinner. Thankfully we have two of Jon's brothers that live semi close to us so we can take turns to host. Mark and Shannon and their 5 children came and stayed a couple nights. Aaron and Cari with their 4 kids came over. They only live 15 minutes away and were able to come and go. It was lots of fun to visit with them and laugh and tell stories. On Friday we even went out on a group date and had the oldest two kids babysit the rest of the pack. Lucas and I ran the 5k Turkey Trot in the morning. I'm really proud of him and his endurance to keep going. We finished together even though I had to book it to catch up to him. My training is nothing consistent yet I was able to finish strong. Micah did the kids fun run and he flew. He sprinted the whole thing and finished strong as well. Both boys are super fast. I'm proud of both of them.
I'm thankful for Jon who made practically the whole meal. He loves to cook and has claimed Thanksgiving Dinner as his to make. If you know anything about the Olsen's and their tad bit of ocd* in the sense of how things need and should be done then you'd understand why I just sit back and let him cook and me clean and tend to kids. He is an amazing cook and the whole dinner was perfect. And thank you to Shannon for the pies and Cari for the rolls and appetizer dish.
The kid's table.
Notice how there is no table cloth or center pieces. It is what it is people! Someday maybe I'll get fancy, but probably not since I'm not like that:) Oh, and we had to bring in the patio table from outside since it's our bigger table. You know you live in Southern Cali when your outside table is bigger than your inside table. *All Olsen's, which us "in-laws" know and tease them about, is how they like things done in a certain way. The dishwasher is the claim to fame to them. It has to be loaded in a certain way or it just drives them nuts. Don't worry I have been trained and if I don't do it exactly right Jon doesn't say a word. Although, he does load the dishwasher 85 percent of the time. Maybe that's why he doesn't say anything:) He's the perfect man and I adore everything about him.
