Well, they're off. Off to new adventures and to new beginnings. The Lukster is now in 3rd grade. Excited. Loving his class, his teacher, his friends, and the playground. The Micah Mike is now in 1st grade but is actually in the 1st-2nd combo class. He is adjusting. Can't say he loves it yet just because he really wanted another teacher that supposedly is nicer and does really fun stuff. The teacher he has is brand new to the school, but has been teaching many years. I imagine she is just as fun and nice. Still, he is adapting. So am I. I have had mixed emotions with him being in this class. Not because it is more academically challenging because I know he can handle it. But, he is so young compared to many of his classmates. He's a July birthday and in Cali December 1st is the cutoff. And here in San Diego you can have Pre-K paid for, so many kids, especially boys, were kept back a year by their parents. Anyway, I need to remember to have faith in my child, that he'll be just fine, and to realize that I can't stop time and keep him my little boy forever. Kids - they do grow-up and they are strong and determined to keep going and to keep learning and living.
Here's to a new school year. To new adventures. To new interests. To new challenges. To new friends. To old friends. And To making the most out of what you've been given. Here's to Life.
We live in every boys' dream neighborhood. These are all of the k-5th grade kids on the first day of school. There is only 1 girl and she refused to get in the picture. The rest, all 13 of them are boys. As you can imagine life on these two blocks is active. On our one block/alley there are a total of 30 kids ranging from newborn to 14 years of age. Most of them are between age 3 to age 8. When these kids are teenagers this block is going to be crazy.
