It is night time. The kids are sleeping. Jon is working (at home). I am trying to blog. What should I talk about? I'm cold and I really hope Jon will take a break and get up. If he does then I'll ask him to get me a sweatshirt:) Perfect. He just got up and now I'm wearing a sweatshirt. I know how much you care that I am warm while I blog this. :)
First, I'd like to thank Jon for taking care of the kids last weekend while I flew to Arizona and ran in the Ragnar Relay. Jon is amazing. I left Thursday and Lucas woke-up sick that morning. On Friday, Jon decided to take Lucas along with the other two kids all to the doctors. Thankfully he did since Lucas had a horrendous ear infection. Not only did Jon take care of the kids he was working from home on a deal that he was assigned on that Thursday. Yeah, he wasn't too happy about that development. But, he rolled with it and as always accomplishes what he needs too. Suffice it to say I cashed in a lot of marriage capital last weekend. Maybe he'll go on Mancation. (mancation definition is when the men go away and take a break from life). Thank you Jon for being here with the kids and taking care of them. You are an incredible father and husband.
Just so you know I have NO regrets for cashing in my marriage capital. It was totally worth it! I have to tell you that last weekend was my first trip away from all of my kids. Jon and I have gone away together for a weekend occasionally. I mean occasionally. But I have never left them and gone away by myself. Also, I have never gone on a trip without Jon since we have been married. Business trips and staying longer with family during the summer do not count. With that all said. I had an amazing and crazy fun time!! I believe that had to do with the fact that I got to spend the weekend with my good friend Maline and with her family.
The race was fun. It reminded me of girls camp with regards to the porta potties and the lack of showers. Thankfully we all smelled so none of us could smell each other. :) Can you say Ragnasty!?!
Let's walk down memory lane for a minute. When I was 16 I made a bet with my best friend Jennie at girls camp. The bet was who could go the longest without showering. I won, but that was just because her mom came to visit and forced her to shower on the last day. To this day I am still proud of my accomplishment:)
Back to the Ragnarly Ragtastic race. It was a bonding experience and an experience that I'm glad I was part of. Thanks Gooch family for welcoming me into your family for the weekend. It was a pleasure to see another large family be so close and grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, my husband's family is just as big and over the last 10 years I have learned the dynamics and blessings of large families. It almost makes me want to have 8 kids...just kidding. I'm not that Ragrazy...I'm only ragspastic:)
Well, I'd show you pictures but I didn't have a camera. But others did so when I get some I'll show you.
p.s. the whole marriage capital is just a joke. jon and i really don't keep tabs on who owes who. that would get old quick. as we all know marriage is a give-take relationship and there are times when one person gives more and then there are times when one takes more. it's just part of life.

You are both amazing parents. So very sportive of each other. Jon seemed to be doing great everytime I checked on them. Not that I could of helped in anyway. I am looking forward to your extended stay this summer and our road trip. Its a bonding time.
P.S.
Aren't you the one that stood up in Shawn Murphy's class and announced that you wanted 10 kids? Maybe I am wrong. :}
wow. i drove past all the ragnar racers. it goes right by my parents house on mcdowell. i had alot of friends in it. so cool you came this way to do that.
Way to run! I'm so glad you got a weekend away even though you had to run and sweat for it!
I told Dad the other day that I wasn't taking a shower because it was my "off" day for showers. He said "OK... Deanna!"
Love you!
