Inspiring Conversations
Some funny conversations:
About a month ago at church Lucas was acting not so reverent in my opinion. Actually, probably in anyone's opinion. I say to him in my mean stern mom voice "Lucas! You need to stop. You know better. Are you 4 or are you 7?" He looks at me and immediately grins and hesitates for about half a second before responding "Neither. I'm 6." (What a smart aleck!) Then we all started laughing and we all were irreverent until the lady in front gave me a glare. I couldn't help it. He got me. Most of his good friends are 7 and 8 so I tend to forget that he is still only 6.
Another conversation with Micah. I took him out to lunch at the mall food court a few weeks ago. As we're eating he precedes to tell me "Mom, did you know that when grown-ups eat too much they explode?" I kind of giggled and then he continues "No, it's true. They can eat so much that there stomachs get huge and then it just explodes because all the food won't fit." He was so serious. And the last thing he said in his cute little 4 year old voice while shaking his head and his eyes wide "It's so weird." With that I just said yep. It could happen.
Lucas asked me a couple weeks ago if I had a baby in my tummy. (I swear my stomach is getting a little smaller, but he continues to ask me this every few months.) I told him no. Then he finally asked me "Well, how does a baby get in your stomach in the first place?" We were walking in the mall for this conversation. I just punted. I didn't want to go into it in such a location. Plus, I was caught off guard. So I told him we'd talk about it later and then I had to go chase down Micah since he started to run off. Thanks Micah! You saved me:) Since then I have talked to seasoned parents and they gave me some good ideas of how to answer.

I love reading up on your blog. You always make me laugh. Your boys are so...0k, I can't think of a word because I'm always around girls, and I would say cute, but that's not a boys word, so you get what I mean, right? I love hearing what kids think about--it cracks me up. I love those pictures of David. What a personality! How fun that you got to have a weekend vacation to yourself!
