My Life

I have not written a post for a long time. I don't know why. There is always lots to say, but it seems there is always more to do.

Last night I played capture the flag for Mutual. I have been called to be the 2nd Counselor in YWs. I am over the Beehives. This calling is fun yet very overwhelming. Los Angeles is much different than most places to raise teenagers. Many challenges and temptations for the youth as well as for the parents. It is hard. I imagine it is hard in other places too.

I collided with a girl last night in capture the flag. I was running full speed to tag the guy trying to get the flag. Got him out but in the process the girl's foot rammed right into the side of my knee. Her head hit my Adam's apple and I got a little whiplash. Last night I gained testimony that my body is no longer 16 and that youth is a gift to be treasured. The night was lots of fun and running around like a kid was good. It was good to laugh and jokingly yell at the boys who were trying to make up the rules. I'm still immature...a kid at heart.

The bruise on the knee would NOT be so troubling other then I am running in the Ragnar Relay in Arizona in 3 weeks. I am in training. I am running this race with one of my good friends from NYC. I'm excited to see her. I guess I will see how running will work since walking seems to hurt pretty bad.

I am contemplating running a marathon too. I have to decide which marathon to run. It has always been a goal. I guess I should clarify that I not only want to run one but do well.

Last week we took care of 4 of our niece/nephews. Ranging in ages 13,10, 7, and almost 2. It was lots of fun.

I never posted anything about my New Year's resolutions. I have a lot of goals. I actually made a goal board to remind me of them. I have yet to make it pretty and fancy. It is simple. I think eventually if I get around to it I will get all of my scrapbook supplies out that I never use and make it more appealing to look at. And maybe I will take a picture of it and show you. Some goals are the standard like read and study my scriptures. Pray. Have Family Home Evening. Visiting Teaching. Food storage (keep up on it and restock if I use it), Run the Ragnar Relay, Run a Marathon, Cook dinner (I hate to cook). Take a family vacation. Save money. There are others. But maybe I will talk about those later. My theme for this year is to Prepare myself physically, spiritually, and mentally for the future.

I have been blessed. My life is full of love and joy. I have an incredible husband that has made it possible for us to have great opportunities and an incredible family. I also have incredible parents and siblings and extended family and also in-laws. Count your blessings. You'll find they're great and amazing. Remember to not compare with others but just realize what you have is what is important.

•Picture was taken last spring. David about 16 months old.

I'm sure your body will be recovered enough to enjoy the ragnar. I have several friends running and would be myself if we weren't going to be out of town! Who are you running with? I hope you have a great experience... and I'd love to hear more about your goals sometime.

Deanna I don't know what to say to that other than I am constantly amazed at how I was able to raise such an awesomely fantastic young woman. All I can say is that I must of done something pretty good in the pre-existence to get such great spirits to raise. We love you and miss you. Thanks for the blogg update
P.S.
Dad says to wear you volleyball kneepads

YW can be tough. I'm the 2nd counselor in YW in our ward too and love it! They're crazy. :) Good luck, you'll be awesome!

Hope the knee heals quickly! Way to go on the marathon goal! You'll do great. I'd recommend the St. George marathon, if you're looking around. It's relatively close (to you), it's on a Saturday, and it's mostly down hill. The only drawback is it's on a lottery system now. But I've had good luck in years past.

Can't wait to keep track of your progress. Good luck with all of your goals! You are an inspiration.

You rock!! We played capture the flag months ago (when it was still warm enough) and I too learned how immature I still was! I was taunting and smack talking the teenage boys - (clearly they were much quicker than me), but it was so much fun! Just remember, we aren't getting old!! No matter what my body says!

Love you D. Such great thoughts and a wonderful post. I hope your knee feels better soon...youth really is a gift isn't it. I think we continue to be young at heart but our bodies start to tell us otherwise. Love you friend.

Deanna,

What a beautiful person you are, inside and out.

I love your blogs and think you could match any of the blogs and diaries that are published on the net.

Love,

Sheila
