Summer is ending. I will miss it. Although I know it is time to get on with life - responsibilities, schedules and order - but I have to let it be known I enjoyed the freedom that summer offers.
So tonight I will say goodnight to the endless summer days.
Goodnight wii video games.
Goodnight television cartoons.
Goodnight sleeping in till 8:30 a.m. on most mornings.
Goodnight long beach days.
Goodnight playing with cousins on a daily basis. Lots and lots of cousins.
Goodnight swim lessons.
Goodnight vacations.
Goodnight 8:30 p.m. bedtimes.
Goodnight to hours and hours of reading books.
Goodnight junk food.
Goodnight Disneyland.
Goodnight baseball games.
Goodnight camping trips.
Hello to teachers, homework, parents, other children's daily influences, soccer practices and games, awaking at 6 a.m., fall television (happiness), running schedule, my scale, healthy food, busy work schedules.
Well, you get the picture. It is bittersweet to send children off to school. I will miss them but I will enjoy my free time during the day to clean, organize, exercise, cook, run errands, and all other responsibilities that I have put off for the last 3 months.
Oh, how I will miss you summer. My heart will hold a special place just for you. The memories are sweet and I will hold them close forever. Until Next Year. . . you will be missed.
Love,
D

Ditto to everything you just said! Especially the fall TV part. I can't wait for the unproductive evenings that are awaiting me!! 30 Rock, The Office...oh, how I've missed you. And that Glee show looks good too. :)
oh you make it sound so nostalgic! I think I'm in denial... perhaps I should follow your example and just admit already that summer is coming to a close.
I hear ya!
but just think...pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pancakes... and halloween!
Very well said Deanna. I have been hanging onto summer even into the school year. We are having a hard time getting on a schedule and in a couple of weeks the kids are off for potato harvest break (gotta love Rexburg). I am taking them camping...all by myself...to Goblin Valley in Southern Utah. So for me, summer won't be over until after that last trip. Now to keep them healthy and away from swine flu until then!
And to citymama...Glee is hilarious. Campy and fun in an "Arrested Development" sort of way. It makes me laugh.
