Maids-Nannies-Marriage

I've been in a slump when it comes to blogging. Just can't get myself to the computer these days. When I do sit down at the computer I tend to check the news and to be honest. It is DEPRESSING! After I read it I tend to be completely done with the computer and not in the mood to blog about anything.

Besides the downfall of America (tongue in cheek -- sort of) I haven't been blogging for the reason of my children having colds throughout the month of February. Even today David has a fever.

I have painted the entryway and stairwell and one wall in the living room. I still have a little more to do but have been sidetracked cleaning and cleaning. Do you ever feel like you're a maid? I do. My friend keeps telling me to hire her maid every other week for half the day. What's your opinion of hiring illegal immigrants?

Lucas finished his basketball season yesterday. He had such a great season. He has improved so much and his confidence has grown. He scored four baskets in yesterday's game. We have video and some pictures.

David's favorite ball is the basketball. He was so sad the other day when Lucas was outside playing ball and he was stuck inside watching. I didn't want to let him out because he was running a fever. But his sad little face melted my heart so I gave in. Boy was he happy.

Micah is doing great at school and seems to amaze me with some of the things he knows. Today he walked in the door and tells me "Home is Where the Heart is." I have no idea where he heard this. I asked at church and he says no. Yesterday, Jon walked up to us at the gym and Micah says to him "Hey Daddy-O!" We got a chuckle out of that. Again no idea where he learned that one either. Micah is into everything Star Wars. He is a junkie it seems like. He was happy when I bought him Princess Leia because now I can play with him. Since ya know, I'm a girl (as he puts it).

Lucas told me yesterday as I was putting my make-up on that I look like a boy. Thanks. He then goes on to tell me that "Your face and shirt don't look like a boy but your pants do. You should wear skirts." Wow. Granted my jeans were my "nanny"* jeans but still Jon thought I looked hot. I'm glad we don't have a Nanny.

I went to the movie "He's just not that into You" last night. I went by myself. Jon worked from home from 8-2am. I didn't want to just sit around so I left. The movie was alright. It kind of makes it seem like marriage is a trap and that us women become cranky, moody, not fun, too serious, less hot and desirable after we get married. Maybe we do. I of course blame all my crankiness and moodiness on politics and the realities of what pregnancies can do to a woman's body both physically and emotionally. Wow. Wonder what you're thinking of me now? :)

Honestly, being married for 8 1/2 years with 3 kids has made me more serious. I do believe that I am still fun and hot and just as sexy as Scarlett J. in that movie. But, I've always been cranky and moody. Can't blame that on marriage just hormones. haha. I use to be more fun and just be crazy and carefree to some degree. I am less of this now. I think this comes with age or not. I don't know. I'm just rambling now. Life is just stressful.

Are you done hearing me ramble. It's kind of fun. Better get going. I imagine I have something to do.

*My definition of "nanny" jeans are tight, faded, cheap in appearance and price, but ideal for taking care of kids because they last through all of the dirt, food, grime that children somehow get on the adults in their lives. Most of the nannies in these part of the woods are mid forties and don't neseccarily look "hot" in jeans. I somehow do. . . according to Jon.

i had similar thoughts after watching that movie. made me do a double-take and reevaluate if I was still "fun" or not... I think the added responsilbility motherhood brings may take some of the old kind of fun away, but there's new fun that comes with being a mom. as for the jeans, it's just not worth wearing the nice ones everyday when you're being a maid in them! and yes, I would hire a maid for half a day to whip my house into shape.

I guess I would hire a maid, but I'd want to be sure I wasn't going to get caught if I was hiring an illegal immigrant.

P.S.

I'm really not anonymous but I couldn't figure out which combination of user name and password to use and using anonymous is the only way I could get through.

Instruct me if you have time.

In the meantime thank you for being who and what you are.

And I'm depressed by the news as well, mainly because I know what it is doing to your generation, especially those of you who are working hard and playing by the rules.

Love,
Sheila

Hey Deanna,
This is Doug! :) I don't know about hireing an illegle immigrant but if I had the money to hire a maid to come and do laundry for Kris I would. I mean there are only a few things in life we can't get back and Time is one of them. If think of the time that could be spent doing things that are meaningful with the kids as opposed to folding clothe. Well Someday I hope to have a maid. Just don't get caught hireing an illegal ;)

In response to Doug's comment... I'd love to have a maid to do my laundry, but I don't really spend that much time folding clothes. Check out the pile of clean laundry in our bedroom for evidence!

And... you are still crazy, fun and awesome! I have the same thoughts about myself... I feel like I am too serious and no fun now. My fun time now is quiet alone time!

Not all maids are illegal. A lot of illegal immigrants do jobs other than cleaning up for the rest of the world.
