Well, that kit sat on the top of Deanna's dresser in the closet until last Thursday, when Micah somehow managed to scale the drawers and pull it down. So that became our Thursday afternoon activity. Lucas, Micah and I assembled a gingerbread house that no woman would take credit for. It was only after the third time that we had to re-attach the roof, which kept sliding down, that we finished reading the instructions and realized that we were supposed to let the frosting set for 15 minutes before decorating. Of course, we would have been unsuccessful in holding back our two and four-year-old sons from proceeding, but at least we would have understood why the roof would not stay on. Other than the tiny tart-flavored gobstoppers, which Micah found especially tasty, most of the candy made an appearance somewhere on the property.
We ultimately resolved the leaky roof situation through strategic use
of the the gingerbread men that came with the kit.
This picture is the reason for the title of this post. You can almost
hear Lucas proclaiming his lordship over the candy mansion.
Micah was very proud of our creation.

A man's gingerbread house is his castle (only its edible).
Lucas truly looks like he is exerting his dominion over it. Is it just me or does Micah look more and more like a mini-lucas as time goes on?
